Eight kinds of artisans Tofu Workshop

There are currently several intangible cultural heritage characteristic workshops in Hao Tang Village, with highly skilled artisans. However, their business operations are merely limited to simple sales and displays, leaving tourists with a lack of in-depth experience. Many of these workshops are scattered throughout the village, making it difficult to achieve a clustering effect. Therefore, in response to the current issues, we aim to upgrade and renovate the characteristic workshops in Hao Tang Village with the main focus on sightseeing and experience, broaden the business ideas of the artisans, and enhance the tourists' enjoyment during their visit.

The architectural form of the tofu workshop adopts a raised beam glulam frame with a large-span structure, which can effectively meet the production space requirements. The gradually ascending roofs on both sides and the courtyard at the entrance of the middle building echo the architectural vocabulary of the traditional village of Hao Tang, organically integrating the tofu workshop with the village environment.

The functions of the workshop are arranged along the terrain in a stepped manner according to the production process. Spatially, it consists of six functional areas: raw material preparation area, grinding area, boiling area, frying area, drying area and tasting and purchasing area. The design of all production spaces and the selection of equipment in the workshop meet the standards of food safety inspection. Under the guarantee of hygiene and safety, it is open to tourists for experiencing the production of bean products and for research and study trips by primary and secondary school students. Combined with the display and sale of cultural and creative and handicraft products, it attracts more tourists to experience and consume, increasing the collective economic income of Haotang Village.
