Profile

Huang Xiang founded the PRIMARY ARCHITECTS in 2020 and concurrently serves as the vice president of the China Science and Technology (Beijing) Architectural Planning and Design Research Institute. The office is dedicated to providing integrated design services covering planning, architecture, interiordesign, and landscape architecture, striving to offer diverse solutions for different user groups and various building scales.

The firm is named "Primal", adhering to the core concept of returning to the essence of architecture. Its design practice is "to take nature as the medium between people, architecture and the city, and through the exploration of the original intention of architecture, re-establish the emotional connection between people and nature."

The firm pays attention to the homogenization of architecture brought about by globalization and advocates resisting homogenization by absorbing different regional cultures, climatic features and construction techniques, emphasizing the spirit of place and the importance of construction technology, and intervening in the symbiotic development of nature, human beings and society through architectural practice.
